Something In My Eye
by C. Carson Parks
I seem to have got control of myself of late
And doing things the way I know I can.
Now I’ve got to where I nearly can concentrate,
And I walk down the street just like a man.

But every time I see you walkin’ by,
The sun in the sky
Starts blinding my eye
And the sidewalk and street
Seem to dance at my feet
And they say “Are you Okay?”
And I sigh:
I think I just got something in my eye.

Used to be, whenever you would go ‘cross my mind,
My world would go completely out of sorts:
Lately I have got to where I have whined and Dined,
And I am known as one of the local sports.

But every time I see you walkin’ by,
The sun in the sky
Starts blinding my eye
And the sidewalk and street
Seem to dance at my feet
And they say “Are you Okay?”
And I sigh:
I think I just got something in my eye.
I think I just got somethin’ in my eye.
