Someone Else's Name
by C. Carson Parks
Late last night, the world was all aglow
In my heart I knew you loved me so
When we kissed, your lips were like a yearning, burning flame,
Then you whispered someone else’s name.

I pretended that I hadn’t heard,
But it all came clear with just one word.
I was just a substitute in someone else’s game,
When you whispered someone else’s name.

I lie awake at night,
Asking all the reasons why
But when the flame of love is bright
The heart just never tells a lie.

Oh, everything was going oh so right.
Everything was perfect till last night
So, I guess it’s over, it can never be the same,
Since you whispered someone else’s name.
Since you whispered someone else’s name.
